Let's just spend a few moments reflecting on some advice I would pass to him, this ex PM, and all the other people who think religion is the answer...
Religion is politics but with even less honesty.
The only sense in religion is incense.
No man was made a better man by religion,
You are never closer to god than in a garden.
You are never further from god than when you are tucked up nice and comfortably inside a religious blanket.
Some religious people speak of their "enlightenment";
We need a new word for such people,
When you speak of the religious souls why not save syllables and call them the R. Souls.
In the presence of spiritual understanding,
Can the religions come together, ever, really?
Put it this way
instead he always held himself back from growing,
as a spiritual being
as was intended and is intended by god.
(traditonal british blasphemy)
(Especially inside some building or gang that pretends to be spiritual).
I suggest: "endarkenment".
even the merest glimmerings,
religion and theology are like dead rats in the vicinity of your favourite restaurant,
completely redundant,
a total embarrassment
and strongly hinting as to what you have really been consuming lately.
If they ever did come together it would most likely be yet another case of mutual mast**bation
(also known as 'giving each other a helping hand' *2)
Break over.
Do I think religion is the answer then?
One final thought for you:
The religions and the religious always like to pose as if they are more spiritual, they don't say so much of course, just heavily imply it, as if they have a better spiritual CV (Resume) than the rest of us.
Lobsang Rampa spoke of them as posing as if they have the front seats in heaven pre-booked all ready for their trumpeted and halleluah chorus welcome. Well I paraphrase, slightly.
Meanwhile, those of us with a smattering of genuine motivation to be better spiritually don't give that idea a moments thought. Now which type of people do you think deserves your respect and your attention?
Personal integrity and religion, then, don't go together so far as I have ever observed and I have looked hard to find it too.

*1 By the way, traffic hunters, think about that. I just used a rare word. Imagine. You have your blog and no visitors. Quote me and what happens? Your blog is then the only one that uses the word disintegrity. Think about it. Anyway this isn't a lesson to all you StevePavlina.com wannabe's out there, hmmm it could be though....maybe another article perhaps...
