If you come across a page that has been censored then, currently, I probably don't know that it is censored, yet, because I have only been finding out by accident. You will know because you will either get a 403 or a 404 which means page forbidden or, less honestly, page unavailable, but you probably won't be aware of this much because you will simply see an unexpected page but you won't know the reason for it, so all you will see is that ISP page that doesn't look at all like SaneThinking.com pages. That is how you will know it is a censored page that you tried to view and how you will know that I, Paul E. Coughlin, it's author and publisher, have not yet found out about it. If I had found out about it then I would do a few things. First I copy the file and name it "censored_" and add the original file name exactly and I have instructed my page compiler not to make these pages linked-to at all so they are there, on the server but renamed as described. The next thing I do is to delete the content of the original, the first file, and paste in the content of a standard page which is reproduced below the line here.
The page you tried to view has been censored by the ISP, the 'host', of this web site. The most likely reason for this is that it has caused offence to someone and that led to a complaint and possibly an ultimatum and the ISP therefore decided to censor the page. Some things you may also wish to know are that I was not informed, I being the author and web site owner (Paul E. Coughlin), and so I have not been told what the reason is for that censorship. Another point is that while I have been prevented form sharing with you some information that I consider to be important (otherwise I wouldn't have written it - unless it was a humourous piece but even then my intention behind that humour is usually a serious and important one again) you have been prevented from seeing it, you have been prevented from forming your own judgement about it, you have been denied your basic right to read something that another reasonable person considers to be important.
Although I have not been told or given any warning or hint about this censorship - I only found out by accident - I have been able to determine that at this point (21st May 2007) there are two files (that I know of, there may be others I haven't become aware of yet) and these are in the "Religion" category and more specifically they are commentaries concerning christianity.
Another thing, these pages that have been censored so far, have only contained text, words.
Moreover, those words have never been of an inciting kind nor of a hateful kind nor do they propose anthing of that nature. However they could be seen as being offensive and this I can only speculate upon. But if causing offence to a christian - and it is difficult to imagine who else might have been offended - is such a serious matter that it calls for censorship then I ask you to consider for yourself what exactly christianity is apart from being a manmade system.
Not to be freely able to speak about any, ANY, system in an intelligent, productive and consciencious way, as is always my wont anyway, is an alarm bell to any thinking person.
However, this page is intended only as a brief explanation for why you were not able to view the page you chose to view - you are not allowed to read what I had to say on it, plain and simple.
In order that you don't get a 403, a "forbidden" response, which is what the censored pages revert to, I have added this page and have changed a few files names and moved content that you are not allowed to see (just text, that's all, no pics!).
